Sources familiar with the latest iOS6 beta have stated that they believe Apple may be developing a clamshell device, after finding references to ‘clamshell’ opening and closing in the latest iOS6 code.

A clamshell device could be a flip-phone, but it could also be an extended iPad that was more akin to a laptop.  Alternatively, Apple could also be testing run iOS on existing laptops.

If true, then as the code is already included in iOS6, it could mean that Apple plan to have the clamshell devices on the market within the year.
